Do you think the TV series could have continued past Season 3?

Personally I would have loved to have gone back in time to Farthing Wood and seen an adaptation of 'The Adventure Begins' featuring an earlier generation of FW animals. Other than that, I'm pretty glad they didn't make any more series featuring made up plotlines.

Of course  but with a different person behind the writing. Infact if I was in charge of the storyline I would do exactly what I've done in my own AOFW season four in the Fan-fic section. I must get back to that sometime.

Season four coulda given the farthing wood fans Rusty, plus a bunch of other characters that were in the books but not the TV show. Such a pity they decided to end it at season three. :(

I think they could exploit ``the adventure begins'' or even ``Siege on White Deer Park''. I don't think they should make up their own Farthing storyline. I think the biggest part of it's succes lies in the story itself. The only way I think they should continue beyond the currently available farthingwood material is if Colin writes another book

Id have loved to see The Adventure Begins made into a full seaon. I also reckon that there was oppertunity for 'follow up' one off episodes. Not with a full blown season wide storyline, just one for each episode.
At the same time though, 3 seasons is sort of right. If it aint broke, dont fix it, as old people tend to say :D

Based on series 3 and Stevie Walker's style of writing I'd say no to going beyond series 3 but a prequel like Adventure Begins would work well. I wouldn't be keen on a series 4 if it was too like series 3 then I wouldn't be too sure. Although if it were more like series 2 then I'd be very happy but with the way certain parts of series 3 were done then I'd not be too keen on going beyond it.

I think a `real' farthing wood sequel would need to be based on a real farthing wood book, by the original writer. (I hope) the difference of a fan project is that the fan project is made in honor of the original series; a tribute to what is The animals of Farthingwood. It's not that I think what we're making here isn't any good, but when they are to make a Farthingwood pre- or sequel, it should be based on the books, or at least have some input from the writer.

There was a belgium comic book: ``Suske en Wiske''. When the original creator died, somebody else took over. Even though he really wanted to continue in the spirit of Van der Steen, it's very clear when he took over in the comic. I don't think one should continue someone elses work without at least making clear a new start has been made; for it is not ones own creation.

Voted "no, it was the right time to end the series'

To me personally. Series 2 was the best of the three. Series three had its problems, but I did enjoy seeing past series two.

I think another series just would have dragged on too far from the original story.

series 3, but its like all things if they continue it on, it gets worse

such as Dogtanian, when they relesed the second series it was *bleep*, the drawing was differnt, and the voices were like dogtanian's voice was broken :/

No. I think it should've ended at series 2 (hence voting for that option), as series 3 seemd a bit long-drawn out to me really. And rather pointless overall.

As someone said...

As I did, it should've ended at 2ºseries.

I didn't like 3 series... I think it lost too many of "spirit" and "love".
Isn't the same drawing, voices, ohh...

It's sad to say, but to me the 3ºseries is only a kind of "addition" :-(

At all... Isn't horrible, but isn't the same intention, isn't the same thing...

At the time, yes i would have wanted it to continue, but now i look back i think they were wise to leave it after season 3.

No. All good things must come to an end!. Just how far would it have gone before the viewing rateings would have slumped and the creditabilty of The animals of farthing wood would have been lost. I would rather watch repeats rather then a poor story line. Lets leave T.A.O.F.W as it ended. /\-/\

Look at what happened when the writer of aofw in Series 3 got to make up new storylines. We ended up with the Weasel and Measly outside of White Deer Park storyline, which is well known as the weakest part of series 3 and possibly aofw as a whole so there's a chance that new storylines would not have worked at all.
To be honest I don't think aofw could have survived on one person's ideas and it needed the books as a guideline.

The Adventure Begins should have been adapted as a series, but not now, I think the climate of kid's cartoons has changed since the early 90's.

I for one actually enjoyed series 3, it gave me a chance to say goodbye to the characters. If it had ended at series 2, I think we'd all be complaining that the later books weren't made into a series ;)
