As I mentioned in the introductory thread, I'm an artist. So of course I've got some artings to show off :P
(These pictures are quite large and are probably best viewed on my DeviantArt - -Ice Dragonhawk on DA ) (Posted Image) (Posted Image) (Posted Image) That's all I have as far as Farthing Wood is concerned. I do expect to do more however, and this does include some kind of animation too. ;) -- Update #1: A wee bit of animation coming up. Okay, these are more animation studies rather than straight animation, but hey. (Posted Image) I started trying out the 4 legged walk cycle with one of my dragon dudes. I was focused on leg movement on that, so the rest of the body was just crudely added later. I followed that up with a more brisk strut with Farthing Fox. That time I did try and get a little bit of body movement into it. For some reason I couldn't get my head around it. It was either too floaty or waay too quick (quite comical though) In the end, I just got bored, matched the head up with the front legs, then made him... uhh.. dance? If you can call it that? Then today I had another crack at it. Spent a good hour on videos of wolves, and of course staring at my cat helped too. (which seemed to puzzle him :P ) (Posted Image) Much better me thinks. I'm going to work on a few run cycles later, then maybe a few alternate angles. But Yep, that's all for this brief update. Idh out. -- This post has been edited by Ice Dragonhawk on Jul 18 2012, 06:56 PM |

Thanks very much. I am indeed the creator of them. :proud: And yes, everything you see I drew from scratch using the default brush set in Photoshop. I spent a good 13-16 hours on Bold and the Feud, the title scene took about 30 due to the sheer amount of characters involved. (speaking of that last one, I have an urge to redo it. Since then, I've learnt how to draw fur properly- as you can see in the other two- so I might have a crack at making it better sometime)
I've also been wondering what Farthing wood scenario I could draw next. So if you've got some suggestions, please do put them forward. :D At the moment I'm thinking of the Hunt from episode 8. (the sound of the horns always gave me the chills in that one XD ) This post has been edited by Ice Dragonhawk on Jul 13 2012, 08:49 PM |

Impressive artwork and very impressive drawing times as well, I barely have the patience to scribble for an HOUR, haha. The effort definitely shows!

What Cab says about the backgrounds is very, very true. I enjoy how it serves to provide additional information into the picture, and how it helps keeping it "balanced" so that wherever you watch, there is a character or a place that, though not as important as the foreground, is not just petty decoration either.
And then there is the overall choice of colours, composition, the work made on texture and light... I love them! They are all magnificent. |

OMG! Wow!! These are absolutely stunning. I love the way you've done the fur texture and the detail in the background is superb, especially on the last one. I really like how you've given the characters your own personal touch and yet kept their true designs. The middle one has to be my fave. The way you've done the snow around Fox's and Scarface's feet really adds to the sense of drama in the picture.
Fantastic! :D |

Wow... The thing that really gets me about your art is the sheer amount of effort and detail that goes into the backgrounds and the colouring... all those textures and everything... and all with the default brush?! Amazing patience and attention to detail. I love the title scene one best ^_^ I'm overwhelmed by the details on things like all those bricks and things in the Bold one... Yikes.
The Hunt scene would be amazing to see in your style! Yeah... the hunt horns...that entire sequence gives me the chills... heh...Although, I must do my usual put in a vote for the river scene...That would look awesome, with the rabbits and Fox and Badger and THAT MASSIVE DEBRIS and what not (best character ever.)... but whoa, would that be a challenge and a half D: All that water... But yeah - T'is not a request! Just an idea ^_^ Or maybe follow up the Fox's Feud one with Lady Blue verses Vixen? :D Anyways, really awesome art, and it's so fantastic to see someone drawing fan arts again ^__________^ Consider me inspired :D :arty: |

Woaaaah, I only just noticed all the peeps in the background of the Fox's Feud picture! I got so focused on Fox and Scarface that I totally missed everyone in the back!

Oh yeah! I'd like to add that that one is my favourite of the pics. :) Bold's pose and perspective is a teeny bit awkward in the final pic, but generally... what I said in the other post. :D This post has been edited by Sir Cabbage on Jul 16 2012, 09:25 PM |

Added some new animations to the original post! :D So which Farthing wood character(s) would you most like to see me animate in the next batch?

Wow! Such smooth animations! I love that foxy trotty stride (and approve of the daft flaily dance... feels somewhat reminiscent of my experiences with "Zumba"...)
Great work with the dragon too. I like how you got the wings moving and all that... Very impressive! Are they done in Flash? As for other characters... I would suggest...maybe... Weasel? XD Hee. I was very interested in your proposed project you posted in the other thread of potentially re-animating the opening sequence in 3D... That sounds like a mighty challenge D: These 3D programmes are waaaaaay over my head D: Good luck with that if you decide to go ahead with it ^_^ Very impressive work, sir! :worthy: |

Bother, won't let me add any more images to the OP.
Update#2: Success! I think I made some good progress today. This is probably the most 'organic' animation I've made so far. (Posted Image) Next up: perhaps some non-loop animations, and maybe even some different species. This post has been edited by Ice Dragonhawk on Jul 26 2012, 08:59 PM |
